Rule of Four
I have been reading this novel, Rule of Four, since yesterday. I am still on the 5th chapter for I really find it hard to go with the story since I haven't read any renaissance books in my entire lifetime. The only good old books I have placed in my lap for reading are the Strunk and White (which is mentioned in the novel that I am reading now), Plato and the Republic, and Sophie's World. Apart from this three, I haven't read anything that will help me understand some parts of the novel, Rule of Four. The book is really interesting to read, but it takes me a really long time to understand it.
On reading...
Rule of Four is the most recent book I have placed interest on after Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic and Baby which I have come to read about four months ago. Heck, it was a really long time. When I checked some books from the National Bookstore, it is either the book I have been wanting ever since is out of stock or the book I've been eyeing on still hasn't made it yet to the "discounted-book-shelf". I can't buy books which is over my "book budget"! So, I would rather wait until it reaches its red-tag date and buy until I can afford it----OR.. I will see if I can borrow that kind of book from my friends or download a copy of an e-book. I love reading, but not so much on collecting books. But of course, there's this really huge fulfillment if I can buy myself a copy of a really good book...but it is not my goal to collect books and stock them in my book shelf. That is the biggest offense I can ever give to the author of the book.
I have learned to love the art of reading from my Dad, who himself is a great fan of reading anything. From national geographic magazines to christian literary books, from school books to novels--his taste is really varied. So I got it from him. I was also influenced by Veejay, a really good friend from church, in this heart of mine to read. She pointed out what good books are there which I will enjoy reading, so on and so forth.
